Google Forms has simplified the task of grading online assessments. There are many features, such as Multiple Choice, Checkboxes, or Drop Down Menu, to make a Google Form assessment self-grading. 

If you are not utilizing the self-grading options mentioned above, Google Forms has tools to make other grading methods a breeze.

How to Insert a Google Form into Google Classroom
  1. Create your Google Form. 
  2. Once logged into Google Classroom, create an assignment.
  3. Click the Google Drive icon on the assignment screen. In the search box, be sure to type, “type:form” in order to filter your Google Forms. 
  4. Choose the correct Google Form and insert the Google Form into the assignment. 
  5. Finish creating your assignment and make the link live for students.  
How to Send a Google Form Through Email
  1. Create your Google Form. 
  2. Select the Send button in the top right corner of the screen. There are two ways to send a Google Form through email:
    1. In the Send Form popup, enter the emails directly and then hit Send in the lower right corner of the popup.
    2. In the popup, click the Link icon. Copy the given link and paste in a separate email. 
How to Create and Examine Results of a Self-Grading Google Form
  1. Navigate to forms.google.com.
  2. Choose the “Blank” option under “Start a New Form.”
  3. Give your assessment a title in the upper left-hand corner. 
  4. In the upper right corner, choose the artist palette symbol to customize the theme of your Google Form assessment. 
  5. Choose the gear option to open the settings. 
  6. In the Settings box, click on “Quizzes.” Toggle on the “Make this a Quiz” option. 
  7. On the right drop down box, choose Multiple Choice, Checkboxes, or Drop Down for your question type. 
  8. Create your question, along with answer choices. Click the option “Required” in the bottom left corner of the question box. 
  9. In the question box, choose “Answer Key” at the bottom left corner. Choose the correct answer and assign a point value. Click done. 
  10. Continue this process for as many questions as you have. 
  11. Send to your students using the “Send” button in the upper right corner. 
  12. Once students take the assessment, their answers and grades will show up under the Responses tab. 
How to Create and Grade a Non-Self-Grading Google Form
  1. Choose Short Answer for your question type. 
  2. Create your question. Make the question required. 
  3. In the question box, choose “Answer Key” at the bottom left corner. Assign a point value. 
  4. Click on “Answer Feedback” and insert the main points that you want students to answer with. 
  5. When students respond, you will see their answers under the “Responses” tab.
  6. In the “Responses” tab, choose which question you would like to grade. You will be able to view all of the student responses and assign full or partial credit.
