Secondary Smorgasborg: Happy Hour FREEBIES

Are you looking for some great resources for your secondary classroom? How about some wonderful FREE teaching resources that you can print out and know that they've been classroom tested already? Several TpT teacher-authors have collaborated and are offering a collection of Free resources. You can find the links to all of the free resources on the ELA Buffet Blog and Desktop Learning Adventures blog.

As a high school English teacher I often teach plays by William Shakespeare. My classes are always a mixture of special ed students, ESL students and general ed students. I always have to do a lot of background when I prepare to teach a Shakespearean play. My Shakespeare Scavenger Hunt which is free in my TpT store is a great way to introduce any play by Shakespeare. You can use this activity in a variety of ways.

I like to do the Shakespeare Scavenger Hunt in my school's library but you can do it in the computer lab as well. Students can work individually or in groups. I usually give a prize to the winner. I might give the winner five points on the next quiz or a free homework pass.

  2. Great idea, Tammy! I think it's important to engage students right off the hop when teaching Shakespeare!

  3. Tammy, this is wonderful! I'm going to give it to early finishers next time we are working in the computer lab. It's never too early to learn about Shakespeare.
    Thank you!

  4. GREAT idea! I have a couple of English-teacher-friends that I'd love to pass this along to. I certainly wish my English teachers used this when I was reading Shakespeare!
